Lake Buluan is the third largest lake in Mindanao and the sixth largest in the country. With an estimated area of 62 square kilometers, the lake is a major source of livelihood for the people living in the towns of Pandag, Mangudadatu, and Buluan in Maguindanao and the town of Lutayan in the Province of Sultan Kudarat.
Lake Buluan's main produce is tilapia as well as murrel (dalag), tank goby (bunog), and milkfish (bangus). There are also Gouramis, snakehead murrel, walking catfish and carps.
We had a tour at Lake Buluan during the province's Inaul Festival celebration last February and it was an amazing experience. Lake Buluan is located some 15-20 minutes away from the town proper.
We explored the lake through a motorized banca and had a glimpse of the life of fishermen and the people residing by the lake. Check out the following photos.
