To be held in Tawi-Tawi’s first class town of Languyan, this year’s Kamahardikaan Sin Tawi-Tawi will be again highlighted by Agal-Agal Festival on September 25 which celebrates the province biggest and most known industry, the seaweed.
Agal-Agal Festival is also a cultural extravaganza. It also showcases the rich history and culture of the Sama, Badjao, Jama Mapun and Tausug of southern Philippines. There will be participants coming from each of the 11 municipalities of Tawi-Tawi to converge in Languyan and join in exciting activities. The colorful street dancing and parade of floats all using the Badjao LEPA or houseboat as the main structural design is one of the highlights of the annual Agal-Agal Festival.
Tourists and visitors will surely be entertained with traditional dances like pangalay, kuntao, silat, Igal and music to the tune of native musical instruments like kulingtangan, agong and gandang.
Other activities of the Kamahardikaan Sin Tawi-Tawi include the fluvial parade, Search for Budjang Tawi-Tawi (Miss Tawi-Tawi) and the Grand Cultural Parade on the 27th.
This year's theme is "Tawi-Tawi at 44: A Balanced Ecotourism Hub for a Diversified Culture".
We’re excited to experience Agal-Agal Festival and Kamahardikaan Sin Tawi-Tawi!
See you there!
