If there is one festival that we don't want to miss every year - it's Talakudong Festival of the City of Tacurong.
Held every second week of September, Talakudong Festival is named after the "kudongs" a simple salakot or headgear worn by the locals especially the farmers to protect themselves from the sun and rain.
The week-long celebration is an annual treat for residents and their visitors as it highlights the rich cultures and history of City of Tacurong. It also showcases the unity among the people of Tacurong despite their diverse cultures, and their hospitality.
The City of Tacurong is dubbed as the "City of Goodwill".
The events we attended this year once again exceeded our expectations - these include the high-energy performances of the competing groups in Indak Kudong Cultural Dance Competition and the grand productions of the Mutya ng Lungsod ng Tacurong pageant.
The main attraction during the Talakudong Festival - the Lumbayag sa Dalanon kag Kiay-Kiay sa Talakudong, the street dancing competition, once again never failed to amaze everyone.
Performers in their colorful costumes and beautifully-designed kudongs paraded the main streets of Tacurong dancing to native drums while showcasing their cultures and stories.
