Located at Barangay Buli-Buli in Sumisip, Basilan, the Badjao Village Housing Project was built not only to shield the Sea Gypsies from human predators and harsh condition of the sea brought about by climate change but more importantly to preserve, nurture and protect the rich and unspoiled culture of the Badjaos. From sunrise to sunset, one can observe the way of life of the Badjaos as they interact with each other through songs and dances expressing their struggles, hopes and dreams as a distinct people of the south. Beautifully aligned along the shore, the village beckons the outsiders a deeper understanding and appreciation of the richness of their history.
