A Ramadan Exhibit, initiated by the Department of Tourism in the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao was officially opened on evening of June 5, at the Shariff Kabunsuan Cultural Center inside the ARMM Complex in Cotabato City.
The opening was led by Regional Secretary
Ayesha Mangudadatu Dilangalen of the Department of Tourism- ARMM with ASec. Shalimar Candao, DOT-ARMM employees and invited guests including bloggers and members of the media.
Also there during the formal opening was Director Maritess Maguindra of the Bureau of Cultural Heritage (BCH).
The exhibit which will run until June 26 highlights the importance of the observance of the holy month of the Ramadan.
“This year’s Ramadan gives us a more compelling reason for introspection, reflection and prayer. It also gives us an insightful purpose and opportunity to reach out to our brothers and sisters affected by various conflicts in ARMM,” said DOT ARMM regional secretary Ayesha Mangudadatu Dilangalen.
The Ramadan Exhibit also features a display of some of ARMM’s majestic masjids, which the DOT ARMM intends to include in the roster of the region’s religious and cultural destinations.
“Our masjids are reflection of our Islamic culture and identity. By giving our visitors a peek at these religious and architectural wonders, we also allow them to have a better understanding of the ARMM. We intend to make tourism a vehicle that will take us to the road to tolerance, harmony, understanding and lasting peace,” Dilangalen added.
