Malacañang Palace through the office of Executive Secretary Salvador Medialdea on Friday June 16, 2017 has issued Proclamation No. 235 declaring June 26 a regular holiday in observance of the Muslim celebration of Eid'l Fitr.
"Whereas, the entire Filipino nation should have the full opportunity to join their Muslim brothers and sisters in peace and harmony in the observance and celebration of Eid'l Fitr."
The said holiday was also declared “in order to bring the religious and cultural significance of the Eid’l Fitr to the fore of national consciousness.”
