More than 6,000 internally displaced persons (IDPs) affected by the five-month long Marawi crisis have started returning home.
On Sunday, October 29, over 100 vehicles brought the first batch of evacuees back to their respective houses in Brgy. Basak Malutlut. They were from various evacuation centers while others were "home-based" or those who sought refuge in houses of their relatives or rented houses in Iligan City, and neighboring towns and cities.

In a short program and media briefing held in Brgy. Basak Malutlut, designated Marawi City Recovery Program ground commander Zorahayda Taha, who is also the regional director of DSWD Region 12, assured returning residents of government support as they start rebuilding their lives.
Each returning family she said will be given a sack of rice, cash assistance amounting to P5,000, relief goods good for 18 days and can avail of cash for work program.
This week, IDPs from the following barangays will also return to their homes:
October 31, Tuesday: Poblacion Marawi and East Basak
November 1, Wednesday: Loks a Datu and Barrio Green
November 2, Thursday: Tampilong and Matampay
November 3, Friday: Barangay Saber
November 4, Saturday: Barangay Panggao Saduc
