The Municipality of Datu Odin Sinsuat in Maguindanao really has huge potential when it comes to tourism. The town has numerous natural and man-made attractions which are now frequented by travelers and tourists from different parts of the country. Among these is the Blue Lagoon in Brgy. Margues, Mt. Minandar in Kusiong, Masjid Nasser Abpi or the White Mosque in Awang and Sifaran Falls in Brgy. Sifaran.
In Brgy. Bitu, another potential tourist destination is the Hundred Steps Spring (also called as Bitu Blue Lagoon) which is located just about 5 minutes away from the Blue Lagoon in Margues.
Just like the Blue Lagoon, the place is also located on the roadside but one has to take the hundred-steps stairs down from the highway.
The water was so clear and there were residents taking a bath during our visit. There were also kids fetching waters from the Hundred Steps Spring. According to the locals, the water is potable as it comes from natural springs and has been their source for drinking water.
How to go to Hundred Steps Spring
From Cotabato City, catch a multicab bound for Isulan and tell the driver to get you off at Brgy. Bitu, Datu Odin Sinsuat. Notable landmark in the area is a green Mosque on the right side of the road, and a police detachment on the left.
