A visit to Datu Piang town in Maguindanao is never complete without going to the historic Maliga Walay ni Amay Mingka.
Considered as the oldest house in Datu Piang, Maliga Walay or the Red House was built on 1936. It is the house of Amay Mingka or Datu Piang, the first leader of the place.
Maliga Walay served as rendezvous for the meetings of the leaders on social issues of the place back then.

At the gate of Maliga Walay or the Municipal Hall of Datu Piang are two cannons that also hold historical significance. It is believed that Datu Otto of Buayan (now known as Dulawan) originally owned the cannons and handed them to Datu Piang (Amay Mingka), his son.
The cannons were used to protect their territory from conquerors from other places.
