ARMM launches Pakaradjaan 2018, the region's 29th founding anniversary celebration

Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao's (ARMM) year-long celebration of it's 29th founding anniversary, the Pakaradjaan 2018, officially kicked-off last Monday, March 26.

The launching was held simultaneously in five provinces of ARMM namely Basilan, Lanao del Sur, Maguindanao, Sulu and Tawi-Tawi followed by a parade and opening program participated by officials and employees from different agencies and offices of ARMM held at the ORG Compound in Cotabato City.

In Maguindanao, the launching of Pakaradjaan 2018 started with a parade around Buluan showcasing the tribe’s  traditional “Sagayan” or war dance, followed by a short program and unveiling of the Pakaradjaan emblem. Officials present during the launching include DENR-ARMM Secretary Kahal Kedtag; DOT-ARMM Regional Secretary Ayesha Vanessa Mangudadatu Dilangalen, and Assistant Secretary Bai Shalimar Candao; and Maguindanao Board Member King Jhazeer Mangudadatu.

“Pakaradjaan” is a Tausug and Yakan term for merry-making or special event.

In his message, Regional Governor Mujiv Hataman said that this year's Pakaradjaan will highlight the gains of good governance in ARMM and will once again showcase the diversity of the region’s cultures and traditions.

Must-see during the Pakaradjaan 2018 is the ARMM Villages Expo, a display of mock villages of the different tribes of ARMM.The cultural villages would feature the traditions, heritage, products, people and arts of communities in Basilan, Lanao del Sur, Maguindanao, Sulu and Tawi-Tawi. It will be launched on April 16 at the Shariff Kabunsuan Complex.

This year’s Pakaradjaan theme is ”Exemplifying Good Governance in the Bangsamoro.”
