In observance of Lailatul Isra Wal Mi’raj, ARMM Governor Mujiv S. Hataman has declared April 13, Friday, as a regular non-working holiday in the entire Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao through Memorandum Circular No. 1, series of 2018 issued on April 6, 2018.
Isra and Mi’raj, also known as Al Isra’ wal Miraj, is observed on the 27th day of the month of Rajab, the seventh month in the Islamic calendar. This event marks the night that Allah took Mohammad (S.A.W.) on a journey from Mecca to Jerusalem and then to heaven.
The observance of Lailatul Isra Wal Mi’raj is also in pursuant to Presidential Decree 1083, otherwise known as the “Code of Muslim Personal Laws of the Philippines,” and Muslim Mindanao Act No.17.
Aside from the provinces and cities comprising the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao namely, Basilan, Sulu, Tawi-Tawi, Maguindanao, Lanao Del Sur, Marawi City and Lamitan City, other places in Mindanao to observe Lailatul Isra Wal Mi’raj include Lanao del Norte, North Cotabato, Sultan Kudarat, Sulu, Zamboanga del Norte and Zamboanga del Sur, and the cities of Cotabato, Iligan, Pagadian, and Zamboanga.
