Preparations for this year's Philippine Bird Festival (PBF) which will be held in Tacurong City are now in full swing.
Hundreds of guests and visitors from different parts of the Philippines as well as delegates from abroad are expected to visit Tacurong City for the event slated from May 11-12, 2018.
Baras Bird Sanctuary is located in Tacurong City. It is home to more than 20,000 migratory birds mostly herons and egrets. The Department of Environment and Natural Resources recognized Baras Bird Sanctuary as one of the ten most important wetland sites for water birds in the Philippines and the second largest roosting and nesting site of egrets and herons in the country.
Spearheaded by the Wild Bird Club of the Philippines (WBCP), the Philippine Bird Festival, which is now on its 12th year, is aimed at raising conservation awareness through the promotion of bird-watching and responsible appreciation of nature. It is the biggest annual gathering of birds enthusiasts in the country.

In 2017, the event was held in Negros Occidental.
For this year's Philippine Bird Festival, WBCP partnered with LGU-Tacurong and the Department of Tourism- Region 12 for the different activities of the 2-day event. Venues of the activities includes the Tacurong City Gymnasium, Notre Dame of Tacurong College and the Baras Bird Sanctuary.

Exciting activities include bird-watching, conservation and ecotourism forum, photo and painting contest and exhibits, an amazing race-inspired activities for students, folkdance contest, mandala coloring, bracelet making, key holder/ref magnet painting, and many others.
Delegates will also visit neighboring towns of Tacurong including Lake Sebu, Tboli and Tupi in South Cotabato for bird-watching activities, conservation forum, and tour to different tourism destinations.
