Cotabato City is not just the safest city in SOCCSKSARGEN now but the safest city in Mindanao and among the safest cities in the country as declared by the Philippine National Police based on a research recently conducted by PNP's Crime Research and Analysis Center for the first quarter of 2018.
Ormoc City was named the safest city in the Philippines with only 134 crimes reported from January to March while Cotabato City placed second with only 220 crimes recorded in the first three months of 2018.
The City of Puerto Princesa in Palawan came in third with 227 crimes reported.
Authorities in Cotabato City said that the implementation of martial law is a big factor in the current peace and order situation in the city. The city government headed by Mayor Frances Cynthia Guiani-Sayadi also implemented curfew hours every night and has been religiously doing mobile patrol and ronda together with PNP, Task Force Kutawato and other force multipliers.
According to reports, the significant drop in crime incidents in Cotabato City has resulted to rapid growth in the city's economy. More businessmen both local and foreign has been starting to put up investments in the city.
