Over 2,000 internally displaced persons (IDPs) from the Marawi siege who are still in evacuation centers received aid on Wednesday, May 23, 2018 .
The Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (ARMM) government headed by Regional Governor Mujiv Hataman spearheaded the distribution as part of their "One with Marawi" program and the first commemoration of Marawi siege.
Different regional line agencies of ARMM government joined the activity by adopting an evacuation center each where they distributed relief packages and food packs for community iftar (meal to break the fast) that day. There were also medical check-ups held, Oplan Balik Eskwela, and launching of the book that compiles Marawi City stories.
According to reports, there are about 2,190 IDPs who still remains in 18 evacuation centers in Marawi City and in the neighboring town of Saguiaran, Lanao del Sur.
For this outreach, we joined DOT-ARMM which was assigned at an evacuation in Brgy. Maito Basak, Saguiaran, Lanao del Sur. Regional Secretary Ayesha Mangudadatu Dilangalen herself lead the distribution of food packs and relief packages to at least 50 families in the area.
