ARE YOU READY? Bongao Tawi-Tawi Ultramarathon 2nd Edition happening this June 30!

Following the success of last year's inaugural Bongao Tawi-Tawi Ultramarathon, the Great Filipino Race (GFR) and the Local Government Unit of Bongao in partnership with the Department of Tourism- ARMM once again teamed up for its 2nd edition happening this June 30, 2018.

Hundreds of runners from different parts of the country are expected to gather in Bongao, Tawi-Tawi to join the event which will have 11K, 30K and 60K race courses. Check out the race details below:

STEP 1. Sign-up now to reserve your slot! Fill out the registration form here:

STEP 2. Remit your registration fee directly to Gawad Kalinga either thru online payment or through bank deposit (kindly refer to payment options below).

STEP 3. Inspire your friends to support your run and donate on your behalf. Just forward them the payment options and ask them to tag their donation to the name of the runner they are supporting.

60K – Php 1,000
30K – Php 700
11K – Php 500

100% of the Registration Fees will go to the Kusina ng Kalinga Program in Bongao, Tawi-Tawi in partnership with Gawad Kalinga and the LGU of Bongao to provide healthy vegetable-based meals to pre-school children in the poor barangays.

Runners may choose to donate more than the registration fee if they want to help more kids. Runners may also ask their friends to donate online on their behalf so that more kids will benefit.



The most convenient way is by plane

From Luzon
* Take Manila to Zamboanga (Cebu Pacific or Philippine Airlines); then Zamboanga to Tawi-Tawi (Cebu Pacific)

From Visayas
* Take Cebu to Zamboanga (Cebu Pacific or Philippine Airlines); then Zamboanga to Tawi-Tawi (Cebu Pacific)

From Mindanao
* Fly from Davao, Cagayan de Oro or Cotabato to Zamboanga (Cebu Pacific or Philippine Airlines); then Zamboanga to Tawi-Tawi (Cebu Pacific), or

* Take a bus to Zamboanga City and fly to Tawi-Tawi (Cebu Pacific).

IMPORTANT: Once you have finalized your travel arrangements, email us your itinerary so that we could assist you during your travel and, of you want, we can link you up with other participants with the same itinerary as yours.



60K - 3:00am (11 hours)
30K - 5:00am (5 hours)
11K - 6:30am (2.5 hours)


1. Race bib. Must be worn at all times during the race
2. Mobile Phone. Must have enough load credits for calls/sms.
3. Water bottle or hydration pack. Drinking water will be made available in all aid stations but disposable cups will NOT be provided to avoid accumulation of trash and to protect the environment.
4. Headlamp and reflectors are required for the 60K and 30K runners.


Concrete road throughout the race with 2.6 kms steep ascend and descend to and from Bongao Peak. The way up to Bongao Peak is through concrete steps and pathwalks.

Aid Stations will be available every 3 kms along the race route. Drinking water, salt and calorie-rich food items will be available. However, disposable cups won't be provided so runners are required to bring their own water bottles or hydration packs.

Race routes and elevation gains will be posted soon.



All registered runners are entitled to a race bib, loot bag and post-race meal.

All finishers within the cut-off time will get a finisher shirt and a finisher's medal.
