Upi town in Maguindanao has once again successfully showcased their abundance, the unity among its people, and the peace they are enjoying in the recently celebrated Meguyaya Festival last December 16-22.
The street dancing competition was the main highlight of the week-long Meguyaya Festival. Participants coming from Upi and its neighboring towns dressed in colorful traditional costumes of the Maguindanaoans, Teduray and Christian settlers paraded the main streets of Upi dancing to the beats of drums and traditional musical instruments including agong and kulintang while showcasing the town's main produce.
This year, the contingent from Pandan National High School in Municipality of South Upi was adjudged Champion of Meguyaya Festival Streetdancing Competition while the entries of Sabaken NHS which represented the Municipality of Upi, and Talayan Elementary School from Municipality of Sultan Kudarat placed 2nd and 3rd respectively.
