Where to go this Summer in Maguindanao

Summer usually calls for a lot of fun under the sun and the Province of Maguindanao has plenty of wonderful spots for you to choose from. We have listed here some of Maguindanao's popular and cool go-to summer places (that we already visited) that you might want to check out for yourselves this vacation.

Beaches
The first thing in mind to beat the summer heat is of course going to the beach. In Maguindanao, popular beach destinations are in Brgy. Kusiong, Datu Odin Sinsuat Municipality. There are a number of beach resorts in the area but the most recommended are Amaya Beach Resort and Club Cusiong. Both resorts has guest rooms for overnight accommodation.

In neighboring Datu Blah Sinsuat Municipality, Lapaken White Beach is a promising summer getaway.  Although the place is seldom visited by tourists, it is widely popular among the locals. To reach Lapaken White Beach, one has to ride a pumpboat for about 2 hours from Tapian Port at the Poblacion to Brgy. Lapaken. It's a long ride but its worth it.

Waterfalls
If you’re really into dipping into some cool water and extraordinary adventures, then what you need is a trek into the mountains of Maguindanao to take a dip into these popular waterfalls.

Bubuludtua Falls, or Rainbow Waterfalls. This approximately 200-feet and 10-15 feet wide waterfalls is located in Brgy. Nabalawag, Barira. To reach this one has to be prepared for some moderate to extreme outdoor activities including hiking and river trekking along boulders of rock formation with raging waters from the falls. A picturesque view of majestic Bubuludtua Falls surrounded by lush vegetation, huge rocks and large river pools with clear and cold water awaits.

The breathtaking Ranao Pilayan Falls is another popular summer destination located in Upi. It stands at about 50-60 feet high and is known for its rock formations and brain freezing crystal clear water. Ranao Pilayan Falls is very easy to reach making it a favorite getaway for the locals as well as visitors from neighboring towns. A 5-10 minute habal-habal ride from the national highway and a 10-15 minute easy trek will bring you to this majestic falls in Brgy. Ranao Pilayan.

Another popular summer destination in Maguindanao is Kibucay Falls also in Upi. Located in  Brgy. Kibleg, it is just about an hour away from Cotabato City.

Springs, and other destinations
The Province of Maguindanao is also blessed with natural springs that has also become swimming destinations frequently visited by locals and tourists not just during summer. Among these is Margues Blue Lagoon in Datu Odin Sinsuat which is located just few steps from the national highway and is considered as one of the most-visited tourist attractions in Maguindanao.

The Dimapatoy River in Brgy. Awang also in DOS, the Seven Pools Springs in Datu Abdullah Sangki and Kilantan Springs in Ampatuan are other other popular summer destinations in Maguindanao.
