Maasim is one of the most progressive towns in Sarangani Province. A coastal municipality, the town is blessed by the abundance from the sea and is known for beautiful beaches, world-class diving sites, and the largest paragliding arena in the country. It is also home to people of different cultures - the Moros, Blaan and Tboli tribes, and Christians.
The Kestebeng Festival, held every third week of June celebrates understanding, cooperation and unity among the people of Maasim despite diversity in beliefs and cultures. It is also a week-long thanksgiving for abundance, peace and continuing economic growth and developments that Maasim has achieved over the years.
Kestebeng is Tboli and Blaan term which means teamwork or unity.
We joined Maasimians in their celebration this year held from June 15-21, and it never failed us! We had a great time attending different activities which successfully showcased their bests - culture, products, beauty and skills, among others. These includes the cultural presentations during the Indigenous People's Day, the Search for Mutya ng Maasim, and the colorful float parade and the street dancing competition during the culmination day.

This year's Kestebeng Festival is also a celebration of Maasim's 50th Founding Anniversary and is themed "Maasim at 50 Celebrating Breakthrough and Embracing Diversity".
We also enjoyed other activities including the bancarera and motocross competitions, some sports events, and the nightly concerts.
Will definitely be back in Maasim next year for Kestebeng Festival, one of the must-see annual events in Sarangani.
