The top cultural performing groups in Mindanao once again gathered in Tacurong City for the Indak Kudong Cultural Dance Competition, one of the highly-anticipated events of Talakudong Festival.
Held at the Tacurong City Gymnasium last Thursday, September 12, the eight (8) cultural groups from Davao City, North Cotabato, Maguindanao, City of Koronadal and South Cotabato never failed to amazed spectators in their high-energy performances that showcased the cultures of different indigenous peoples group in Mindanao.
Dressed in traditional attires, each group wowed us with their performances that depicted the dances, rituals and stories from the tribes they are representing.
Madayaw Cultural Ensemble from Davao City once again bagged the championship of the Indak Kudong Cultural Dance Competition with their piece this year that showcased a healing ritual of the Maguindanaons. The group also won the top prize last year and in 2017.
Kathara Dance Theatre Collective and Agro Dance Troupe, both also from Davao City were declared 1st Runner-up and 2nd Runner-up, respectively.
The Indak Kudong Cultural Dance Competition was a beautiful showcase of the diverse cultures that we have here in Mindanao. And we hope that this kind of event will be continued as it promotes Mindanao culture and could educate the people with the importance of its preservation.
