A resounding success unfolded at the Sultan Kudarat Provincial Gymnasium as more than 15,000 enthusiastic attendees, comprising both Muslims and non-Muslims from different regions, participated in the impactful "The Common Terms" event on January 14, 2024.
The event, which featured distinguished speakers, aimed to foster unity, peace, tolerance, and reconciliation by deepening the understanding of Islam as a religion of universalism. Respected figures shared insights and inspirations with the attendees, creating an atmosphere of mutual respect and cultural exchange.
Sheikh Nasser Datumanong, who hails from Lutayan town, delivered an inspirational message on "Peaceful Coexistence: Lessons from Prophet Mohammad's Diplomacy." Ustadz Eisa Javier followed with a lecture on "The Common Threads: Monotheism in Abrahamic Faiths," delving into the shared values among different faiths.
Dr. Muhammad Salah, a distinguished scholar based in Cairo, Egypt, addressed the audience on "Social Justice and Islam: A Call to Unity", while Bro. Wael Ibrahim, founder of Connect Institute and a renowned author, motivational speaker, and coach, explored the topic of "Religious Freedom and Human Rights in Islam."
The highlight of the event was the keynote address by Mufti Menk, a globally acclaimed scholar from Zimbabwe and the most followed Muslim motivational speaker on social media. Mufti Menk spoke passionately about "Building Bridges of Understanding," leaving the audience inspired and enlightened.
Governor Datu Pax Ali Mangudadatu of Sultan Kudarat Province expressed the event's timeliness and relevance, foreseeing its positive impact in fostering unity and understanding among Muslims and non-Muslims in the province.
