In a landmark political event aimed at strengthening the Partido Federal ng Pilipinas (PFP), local officials from Tawi-Tawi gathered in Bongao to officially join the party. The oath-taking ceremony, held on May 13, 2024, was administered by Governor Reynaldo S. Tamayo Jr., President of PFP and Governor of South Cotabato, who traveled to the southernmost province of the country for this significant occasion.
This initiative follows the directives from President Ferdinand Marcos Jr., the National Chairman of PFP, to organize and fortify the party's presence across the nation. The ceremony included elected officials from Tawi-Tawi, such as all Sangguniang Panlalawigan members, mayors, vice mayors, municipal council members, and other prominent political figures from the province's ten municipalities.
The officials were warmly received by Governor Yshmael "Mang" Sali and Vice Governor Al-syed Sali, who had previously taken their oaths before President Marcos in Manila.
Governor Tamayo expressed his admiration for the province and its people, stating, "I am not only amazed by the beauty of your province and the hospitality you extend to your visitors – your unity is also truly admirable," commending Governor Sali for his exceptional leadership.
During his speech, Governor Tamayo outlined future plans for Tawi-Tawi under the PFP and emphasized the economic potential of the province. He assured the local officials that the PFP, alongside President Marcos' administration, is committed to realizing these plans and fostering development in the region.
Governor Sali, in his address, expressed confidence in the PFP's role in driving Tawi-Tawi's progress. "As Governor of Tawi-Tawi, I am confident that the PFP will contribute to the success of Tawi-Tawi," he stated. He also highlighted the importance of maintaining peace in Tawi-Tawi and the entire Bangsamoro Region, emphasizing the need for collective efforts for lasting peace and development.
This event marks a new chapter for Tawi-Tawi, as local officials align with the Partido Federal ng Pilipinas, demonstrating their commitment to the party's vision and goals under the leadership of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. and Governor Reynaldo Tamayo Jr.
