The Province of Sultan Kudarat recently hosted its inaugural Halal Lechon Baka Festival at the Provincial Capitol Grounds in Isulan. Launched as part of the Eid’l Adha celebration, the event featured 51 Halal Lechon Baka (Roast Beef), drawing a large crowd of residents and visitors.
The event was spearheaded by Governor Datu Pax Ali Sangki Mangudadatu, who emphasized the festival's goals of promoting the Halal roasting industry, Halal tourism, and the potential of Halal poultry farming within the province. "Sultan Kudarat is proud to be a frontrunner in the Halal industry in the country," Governor Mangudadatu stated.
The Provincial Government of Sultan Kudarat, in partnership with Sultan Kudarat State University, has already established a Halal Slaughter House in the Municipality of Lutayan. Plans are underway to open a Halal Laboratory and Halal Food Terminal in the City of Tacurong, further solidifying the province's commitment to the Halal industry.
In his speech, Governor Mangudadatu highlighted the harmonious relationship among Christians, Muslims, and Lumads in Sultan Kudarat, describing it as a vibrant example of unity in diversity. "This festival is not just a celebration of our rich culinary heritage but also a testament to our unified community," he said.
The festival also featured a raffle draw, with 50 sacks of rice and various appliances distributed to lucky residents and attendees. Traditional Filipino games, or "Larong Pinoy," such as Palo Sebo, Sipa sa Mangis, and a blindfolded chicken-catching contest, provided entertainment and fostered a strong sense of community spirit.
One of the key highlights of the celebration was the spectacular Grand Fireworks Display, which lit up the skies of Sultan Kudarat, marking the culmination of the Eid Al Adha festivities with grandeur and excitement.
The Halal Lechon Baka Festival not only showcased the province’s commitment to promoting sustainable economic growth through the Halal industry but also underscored the importance of cultural unity and community engagement.
